Women Uniting Through Our Love Of Books
Are We Really So Different?
As we began our journey to create an online medical oasis for the women of MRKH, something new was seen. Our sister's love of reading, poetry, and booktok.
It is a common bridge between us and the women who were not born with MRKH Syndrome, and is often our manual of how to deal with social situations and conversations in daily life with other women.
Many of the women of MRKH Syndrome struggle with mounting medical bills, limited resources, and isolation. But overall, a love of the written word has been a ray of light whether in our sick beds, to combat the apparent hopelessness of our situations, and be our friend who would never judge or tell our secrets. For many of us, we learned to hide the bleeding of our soul in poetry we wrote in small, bedside notebooks.
A Network Of Women
We are currently building a network of MRKH individuals and their supporters to post flyers, book drops, and manage online book inventory that has been donated across the United States and oversees.
Why? It’s not about the books (Although we admit our members are definitely obsessive readers - don’t even ask about the President, she’s definitely a book dragon!). It’s about spreading the word of this condition, combat the isolation, and create support groups among the women of the reading world.
We love booktok and littok! We love the growing readers balls and events, and we want to bring that same energy, passion, and dedication into our organization.
These last years of hardship around the world have proved that when the people of the world unite for a common cause, the impossible can occur.
What we are fighting to achieve is most definitely possible, and easily accomplished. At one of our meetings, we did the math and discovered that if we could get just 27,000 women to donate on a monthly basis and share our story on social media, and to their personal doctors, every dream for the MRKH Syndrome community could be accomplished in as little as a decade!
That was shocking! Why has this not been done before now?
It’s time to stop waiting for someone else to fix this issue. We ask that you be a part of our army of 27,000 - help us end this health crisis that our sisters are facing.
Finding Common Ground
Instead of a only having a monetary donation page and social media drive, we decided to also highlight the common ground so often overlooked between the women of the world and the sisters of MRKH Syndrome.
While we know how us women love to have our shelves full of our book trophies, we are asking not only for monetary donation, but a gift of heartfelt love from you to us.
Send us your beloved, and gently used books not only for our online bookstore, but to be given as gifts to our MRKH sisters whose health has them currently confined indoors.
We doubt there is a woman alive that reads, whose heart has not been touched or even saved due to a novel bought, borrowed, or given by a friend when going through dark times.
